BEFORE THE WATER ADVISORY
FLORIDA, May 1, 2008 / MBMI/ -- Water is precious, we have always believed we are blessed with a seemingly unlimited supply of fresh, clean water -- but experts are now warning that may no longer be the case. There are growing concerns over aging and failing drinking water in the U.S. resulting in threats to public health across the country. Water shortages could affect as much as two-thirds of the world population by 2025. Scientists have warned that global warming will produce more intense bursts of precipitation.
Award-Winning Watersafe is the easiest and safest way to store significant amounts of emergency water. Inventor, Michael Nevils developed the Watersafe, after witnessing his 90 year-old neighbors struggle upstairs with buckets full of pool water in the aftermath of a hurricane. The product is a solution for anyone to safely keep up to 65 gallons of water in the bathtub or sink, avoiding the pre-hurricane rush for bottled water. Nevils' invention was awarded the Grand Prize in the 2007 Inventor Search Contest.
World sea levels are projected to rise by between 7-24 inches by 2100, partly because of runoff from melting ice caps. No one weather event, however, can be attributed to larger changes in the climate. So when the climate changes. As the global economy grows, so will its thirst. Close to half of all the people in developing countries are suffering at any given time from a health problem caused by water and sanitation deficits because they lack a simple necessity that we take for granted.
A person can live weeks without food, but only days without safe drinking water. 1.8 million children die each year water contamination issues – 4.900 deaths each day needlessly because for a lack of clean water for drinking and hygiene. For children under 5, water-related diseases are the leading cause of death. Many people store water for emergencies like tornados, floods, hurricanes and power failures. This is especially true in rural areas. It is recommended that you store at least 1 gallon daily per person for up to 2 weeks. A five-member family would need 70 gallons of water to prepare properly for disasters. Purchasing bottled water can be costly. The WaterSafe a lot more affordable plus delivers convenience, peace of mind, quality and compact storage ability. This useful, new item on your emergency preparedness kit stores the water you need and protects it. This water is inexpensive, free of bacterial contamination and is sealed in a food-grade container. You can store this water for extended periods of time. The Watersafe is made in America with FDA approved, food grade materials. Engineered with superior liquid packaging technology, the film has a clear, three-layer, non-barrier lamination that is developed to provide strong seals, extraordinary bag toughness and superior flex crack resistance." Said Kisten Nevils this new innovative technology could dramatically improve water quality and public safety during emergencies. Hurricane Kit Checklist:
Drinking Water: Store at least one gallon per person per day for up to two weeks. Store ½ gallon per pet. Extra water is needed for cooking and personal hygiene. To store water, use only food-grade containers. You can also fill clean, airtight containers, such as water bottles with drinking water. If you re-use disposable plastic bottles, do not keep them for more than a month. Do not use milk containers or soda bottles, as they are difficult to clean thoroughly and do not have an airtight seal. The best, safest and easiest way to store water is in the Watersafe.
